When and how will evaluation occur?
Formative Evaluation during WBI Design. Review the goals and objectives and how they are being met with the planned instructional activities and assessments. Feedback from the SME will be valuable to ensure the course is being designed to meet the needs to the learner.
Formative Evaluation during Prototype Development. The storyboards of the course will be reviewed by the SME, ID, and technical expert to make sure the WBI is created to match the goals and desired outcomes. Message design and technology features will need to be examined during this step.
Formative Evaluation during the Final Development stage. There will be several trials to test the pro-type before the course becomes ready for use. A one-to-one tryout will occur with my student aides, a high school senior. She will quickly go through the course and provide feedback on how the course appears to a student and what aspects seem confusing, regarding content and delivery. After any necessary modifications have been made, a small group tryout out with occur with the seven seniors in my second block class. Most of these students have yet to pass the Algebra HSA, so they will be able to provide valuable feedback on the difficulty of the content, and whether they find the activities helpful, engaging, and motivating. The ID will adjust an aspect of the course, as identified by the test group. Finally, a full field trial will occur with a class of about 20 students. At this point, the students will work through the course in its entirety. Thy will be required to provide feedback anf reflections, and final course revision will be made to the WBI.
