Instructional & Motivational Strategies
Within the WBID model there are four major instructional components: Orientation to Learning, Instruction on the Content, Measurement of Learning, and Summary and Close. As a designer is it necessary to design strategies to meet each of their defining subcomponents. Under Instructional Strategies in the table below you will see my plans for the Algebra HSA prep course. Since all 5 modules in my course follow a similar instructional framework, I have used this chart to display all the instructional strategies I have planned.
Motivation is also an important consideration for WBID. Keller's ARCS Model recognizes four major strategies to enhance learner motivation: focus the learner attention, establish relevance, instill learner confidence, and facilitate learner satisfaction. I am a firm believer in these strategies, as I see them work first hand on a daily basis. The final column of the table lists the motivational strategies I will within each instructional component of the modules in my course.
